Connect Bybit

Read-only. The journal never trades.

Bybit hmac key
⚠ This stores a secret
It is encrypted before it reaches the database and never appears in a response or a log. It is still worth knowing: issue a key with trading and withdrawal disabled, and revoke it at the venue if you ever stop using this.
The credential is checked against the venue before it is stored. If it turns out to allow trading or withdrawal, the connection is refused and nothing is saved.
How to create the key checked September 2026
Account menu (top right) → API → Create New Key → System-generated API Keys
  1. 1Sign in to Bybit and open the account menu at the top right.
  2. 2Choose API, then Create New Key, then System-generated API Keys.
  3. 3For API Key Permissions, select Read-Only. This is a single choice at the top of the form and it is the important one.
  4. 4Tick the data you want imported: Orders, Positions and Wallet. Read-Only means these grant reading and nothing else.
  5. 5Under IP restriction choose No IP restriction unless you have a fixed address to bind — see the note below.
  6. 6Copy the key and the secret. Bybit shows the secret once.

Worth knowing about Bybit
  • A Bybit key with no IP restriction expires after 90 days. When it does, imports stop and the connection reports an error — create a new key and paste it in.
  • Sub-account keys only see that sub-account. Create the key on the account whose history you want.
  • You can delete this key at the exchange at any time. Doing so stops imports immediately and affects nothing else.
Exchanges move these settings without warning. If what you see does not match, Bybit API management ↗ is the authority — and nothing here ever asks you to enable trading or withdrawal.
