You run IBKR's Client Portal Gateway yourself
  1. 1Download IBKR's Client Portal Gateway and run it on a machine you control.
  2. 2Sign in to the gateway in your browser, usually at https://localhost:5000.

Worth knowing about Interactive Brokers
  • Interactive Brokers has no hosted read-only API. The gateway runs on your machine, holds your session, and has to stay running for imports to work.
  • IBKR sessions expire and need re-authenticating periodically. When that happens imports pause and the connection says so.
  • If keeping a process alive is not practical, the CSV import is a better fit.
Exchanges move these settings without warning. If what you see does not match, IBKR API ↗ is the authority — and nothing here ever asks you to enable trading or withdrawal.
