⚠ This stores a secret
It is encrypted before it reaches the database and never appears in a response or a log. It is still worth knowing: issue a key with trading and withdrawal disabled, and revoke it at the venue if you ever stop using this.
The credential is checked against the venue before it is stored. If it turns out to allow trading or withdrawal, the connection is refused and nothing is saved.
How to create the key checked September 2026

  1. 1Sign in to your OANDA account and open Manage API Access.
  2. 2Generate a personal access token.
  3. 3Copy the token, and copy your account ID from the accounts list — it looks like 001-004-1234567-001.

Worth knowing about OANDA
  • OANDA's token is not scoped: it is a full-access token, and there is no read-only option to choose. Treat it accordingly — revoke it at OANDA if you stop using this journal. We store it encrypted and only ever read with it.
  • Practice and live accounts have separate tokens and separate account IDs.
  • OANDA reports balance history, so your equity curve here is a real one rather than cumulative realised P&L.
Exchanges move these settings without warning. If what you see does not match, OANDA API access ↗ is the authority — and nothing here ever asks you to enable trading or withdrawal.
